How to Make a Donation

The Vermont Mounted Response Unit is a state recognized non-profit organization.

Your support of the Vermont Mounted Response Unit can go a long way toward helping us protect and save lives. Donations are used to defray the cost of providing services and equipping, training, transporting and maintaining the unit's horses.

To make a donation of feed, horses or equipment, please contact the unit commander, Robin Rousseu. We are in particular need of ongoing feed and equipment sponsors to further defray the cost of maintaining each horse in the unit.

Monetary gifts may be sent to the Vermont Mounted Response Unit at the address below, and you are welcome to comment on how you would prefer the gift be used.

People often ask how much it costs to purchase, train and care for these amazing horses. Here are a few averages:

Horse Purchase
Annual Training
Annual Transportation
Annual Housing
Annual Vet, Farrier and Feed
Annual Equipment
Horse Treats

$5,700
$4,200
$3,100
$2,400
$1,800
$1,100
$57

(And then there's the training, licensing and equipping of the Rangers!)

Please let us know if you would like to help establish a special fund for the purchase of a horse, saddle, protective equipment, trailer, tow vehicle or other Vermont Horse Patrol need. It's a wonderful way to honor or remember the equestrian or first responder in your life.
